Let’s talk about AI

Here at Seasalt, we may use AI to empower us to be innovative. What is most important to us is our Values, and while we see some of the benefits that AI can bring, the human touch is always at the forefront. Where AI may be used, it is always ethical, validated and refined to ensure it is reflective of who we are at Seasalt.

While we do not consistently use AI within the recruitment process, there may be occasions where we will use AI to support us with advert writing, selecting interview questions, suggesting ideas for interview tasks and composing feedback. This helps us to ensure our content is engaging, captures all relevant requirements and to inspire creativity.

What we don’t use AI for

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a huge topic, and we appreciate that some of us are familiar with the tool and use it within our day to day, but some of us don’t.

Either way, it is still evolving and we’re all navigating it’s use and what best practice looks like.

The human touch is incredibly important to us, and we have committed to only using it where appropriate in the candidate journey. To be completely transparent, we won't use AI for the six steps opposite.

Where we do use AI, we will always remain compliant with UK GDPR and Seasalt’s internal policies.

Guidance for candidates

We appreciate that AI can bring benefits during an application process and you may consider using it. While we do not disallow it, we encourage you to be cautious and ensure your authentic self is consistently portrayed. Therefore, we have put together some recommendations on where you could use AI, and where you should avoid it.

Do’s

Reviewing your CV and application – researching some tips and checking for any grammar or spelling errors

Preparing for interviews – brainstorming examples you could use and structuring your responses

Researching our brand – to learn a little more about us

Highlighting achievements - Customising suggestions to reflect your achievements and experience

Stay ethical – Be honest when detailing your skills, experience, qualifications and completing assessments

Don’ts

Don’t use AI within the interview – only do this if you’re asked

Fabricate your experience – we want to see the authentic you, not what AI thinks is good

Preparing fictional examples –  your real life skills and experience is what's important

Over-rely on AI – your CV won't feel human, or you could struggle in the interview to articulate your responses

Don’t trust everything AI produces - it may provide errors or inappropriate advice
