Sustainability
For 45 years, Seasalt has grown from a love of Cornwall’s coastline, countryside and outstanding natural environment.
In 2024 we received the 'Drapers - Sustainable Store Design Award', reflecting our store design key principles - Sustainability, Flexibility and Economy.
Creating positive, lasting change
Read our Impact reportIn 2024 Seasalt became B Corp certified, playing our part in a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
We achieved a fantastic score of 100.2, against the sector benchmark of 80.7, which is a true testament to the hard work, dedication and adaptability of all our people.
We guide and support our employees, partners and customers in making considered and confident choices for people and the environment. To do this, we’re embedding sustainability in the heart of our business at every level, in every team.
Sustainability training
We’re committed to reducing the environmental impact our business has on the planet. As part of our induction programme, each new team member will follow the journey of our famous Sailor Top and learn about the environmental impacts at each stage of its production.
Considered partnerships
We’re building partnerships with businesses who can support our social standards and environmental ambitions. We’re part of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), which requires every supplier we work with to operate, as we do, according to an internationally recognised labour code.
Designing for the Future
We're exploring new ways to keep clothing and materials in use for longer. Through collaborations with partners including Beyond Retro, Afflatus, Community Clothing and the Circular Textiles Foundation, our teams are helping shape a more circular future for fashion.
In 2025, our Beyond Retro collaboration transformed 4,315kg of post-consumer denim into a limited-edition collection, while our Seasalt Circular project gave surplus fabrics from previous seasons a new lease of life.
Our new partnership with SATCoL (the Salvation Army’s trading arm) helps us manage our terminal stock and enables customers to donate pre-loved Seasalt pieces for resale, supporting the charity’s work and increasing circularity.
Guided by the principles of sustainability, flexibility and efficiency, our teams create spaces that are built to evolve over time. Our Norwich concept store achieved a 68.5% reduction in fit-out carbon emissions compared to previous Seasalt store designs and helped establish a blueprint for future stores.
Our store designs incorporate responsibly sourced and recycled materials, reusable fixtures and fittings, and innovative approaches that have earned industry recognition, including the Drapers Sustainable Store Design Award.
We’re committed to increasing traceability and sourcing more responsible materials across our collections. Today, 100% of our cotton fibre is traceable and certified organic, 100% of our virgin wool is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, and 100% of our viscose comes from responsibly managed plant sources and closed-loop systems.
Behind every product is a network of teams and suppliers working together to balance quality, durability and environmental responsibility.
Volunteering
We take our social responsibility seriously and want to do good things for the communities that surround us. Our Seasalt volunteering programme offers everybody across the business the opportunity to take paid time out every year to support causes they believe in, from conservation projects and beach cleans, to foodbanks and animal welfare organisations. Every employee receives up to two full days of volunteering leave each year.
By the end of 2025, we achieved our volunteering goal of 20,000 hours - a huge team effort!
